Made famous by the smiling face of Numatic's Henry, tub vacuums are a popular choice amongst UK residents.
They are great for commercial and domestic use as they come in a range of capacities, from 6 L to 15 L. They also come in a variety of specialised categories such as wet & dry, ATEX rated or hazardous dust pick ups.
Prices for these machines can range from around £100 (for some of the smaller machines) - £2,000 (for some of the larger, more specialised vacuums).
Fairly new to the UK market, backpack vacuums made a name for themselves overseas in countries like Australia, where they are hugely popular.
Their claim to fame is the freedom they give you to move and clean with ease. They're slightly restricted in terms of capacity due to them having to be small enough to fit on your back, however there are HEPA rated options for more specialised tasks.
Prices of these machines range from around £200 - £1,000.
The more modern entry on this list, stick vacuums really burst onto the scene a few years ago with the development of battery technology.
Lightweight and nimble, these machines are great for getting into tight spaces and tackling more detailed jobs. Due to them being hand held they typically have a smaller capacity than most other machines, but the majority of them are battery powered giving you total freedom.
These can range in price from around £50 - £500
A bit more of a traditional vacuum, uprights have been a staple for many years, and you know what they say 'if it isn't broken, don't fix it'.
With powerful motors and wide cleaning heads, it's no wonder uprights have been around so long. Capacities usually sit around the 5-7 L mark, meaning they are more than capable of cleaning a significant sized area.
Commercial upright vacs usually range in price from around £300 - £1,000
