Doing This Regularly Can Save Your Cleaning Equipment (and Money)!

Joe Peatfield.May 03, 2024
If you clean a vacuum cleaner does that make you the vacuum cleaner?... ...Is not the question we're answering, but more why is it important to clean a vacuum cleaner, or any cleaning machine for that matter? You wouldn't run a car without oil and coolant otherwise it wouldn't drive properly, so why do cleaning machines get so much neglect? Here's list of reasons it is imperative to stay on top of your equipment's health and hygiene with servicing:   Why Should I Get My Equipment Serviced? Enhanced Performance: Routine servicing of cleaning machines is akin to giving them a rejuvenating spa treatment. It involves giving the machine a thorough inspection and cleaning/ replacing worn-out parts. This ensures that the machine functions optimally, delivering consistent and reliable performance. Prolonged Lifespan: Just as regular exercise and healthy eating habits promote longevity in humans, servicing extends the lifespan of cleaning machines. By addressing minor issues before they escalate into major problems, servicing prevents premature wear and tear. Replacing motor brushes, checking electrical connections, and cleaning filters are all part of the process to keep machines in top condition. As a result, businesses save on costly repairs and replacements while enjoying prolonged usage of their equipment. Cost Savings: The age-old adage, "prevention is better than cure," holds true in the realm of cleaning machine maintenance. Investing in regular servicing may seem like an additional expense, but it ultimately translates into significant cost savings over time. By detecting potential issues early on, businesses can avoid expensive breakdowns and emergency repairs. Moreover, well-maintained machines consume less energy and require fewer consumables, contributing to lower operational costs in the long run. Safety Assurance: Safety is paramount in any workplace, and cleaning environments are no exception. Neglected machines pose risks not only to the equipment itself but also to the operators and bystanders. Faulty electrical connections, worn-out brushes, or malfunctioning sensors can lead to accidents or injuries. Through regular servicing, these hazards are identified and rectified, ensuring a safer working environment for all. Additionally, compliant servicing practices adhere to industry standards and regulations, mitigating legal liabilities for businesses. Improved Indoor Air Quality: In the pursuit of cleanliness, cleaning machines inadvertently become breeding grounds for dust, dirt, and allergens. Without proper maintenance, these contaminants recirculate into the air, compromising indoor air quality. However, servicing involves thorough cleaning of filters, suction systems, and exhaust vents, thereby reducing airborne particles. As a result, occupants enjoy a healthier and more comfortable indoor environment, free from respiratory irritants and allergens. Enhanced Reputation: In today's competitive market, reputation is everything. Businesses that prioritise maintenance and uphold high standards of cleanliness are viewed favorably by clients and customers. A well-maintained fleet of cleaning machines not only demonstrates professionalism but also reflects a commitment to quality service delivery. This positive image not only attracts new clients but also fosters loyalty among existing ones, ultimately driving business growth and success. How Often Should I Get My Equipment Serviced? How often you get your equipment serviced really depends on how often you use it and what you're using it for. If you clean for hours every day and you are cleaning up lots of dirt then we would recommend getting it serviced every 3 months. However, if you're only cleaning once or twice a week and aren't dealing with a lot of dirt then the minimum we would suggest is once a year. Generally we suggest every 6 months for average use.   So, if you're looking to keep your equipment in top shape then be sure to get it regularly serviced so it can keep doing it's job safely and to the best of it's ability, for longer. We service all types of cleaning machines, vacuum cleaners being one of them. Which poses the earlier question, are we vacuum cleaners? Find out more about what we offer in terms of servicing or book a service below.

Wet AND Dry vs Wet OR Dry Vacuums - What's the Difference?

Joe Peatfield.Mar 15, 2024
With just one word separating the two types of vacuum, there can't be much of a difference right? Well, you'd be surprised to know the difference is actually VERY important and could SAVE your vacuum! On the surface, these two machines look almost identical. However, the inside of the machine is where the biggest difference is...   Wet or Dry Wet or Dry vacuums have two separate filters and only allow for wet OR dry pick up. If you want to switch from dry to wet you have to switch out the dry vacuum filter for a float assembly and vice versa. Vacuuming up liquids with a dry vacuum filter in can damage the motor and cause your vacuum to malfunction. This is because the vacuum filter does not have a float to cut off suction if the tank overfills. Picking up dry dust and debris with a float assembly can cause damage to the mesh gauze and dust particles can get through the mesh gauze, again damaging the motor. This is because the holes in the mesh are not small enough to contain dust particles.   Wet & Dry  Wet & Dry vacuum cleaners, on the other hand, allow you to switch between wet & dry pick up seamlessly, as they have both a filter and a float assembly installed as standard. There is no need for you to switch out the filter like wet or dry machines.  They have a special filter that will block out most dust particles* from getting into the motor but allow enough suction to pull water into the tank. They also have a special metal mesh gauze which is far stronger than a typical wet or dry mesh gauze and will not get damaged when picking up debris.  *Fine dust particles, like plaster or brick dust, may still pass through. We recommend fitting an NVM-5BH dust bag below the float assembly to act as a further filter.    Summary Wet or dry - Better for individual jobs + Has a better dry filter that keeps out finer dust and the ability to fit a disposable dust bag. + Is better for wet pick up as it has a stronger suction than the wet and dry vacuum due to not having a permanent filter restricting air flow. - Need to change out the filter when switching between wet and dry pick up or you can damage the machine.   Wet and dry - Better for general pick up + Better for use where there is a mix of dust/ debris and liquid on the floor as it can tackle both without needing to change filter. - May allow finer dust through as the dry filter is not as effective, and doesn't have the same suction strength on wet pick up.

Pacvac's NEW Backpack Vacuums - What Has Changed?

Joe Peatfield.Mar 05, 2024
Pacvac have updated their product range, changing the names of their machines, adding some new features and a new machine!  Instead of long names like the Superpro 700 Battery Advanced (which is a bit of a mouthful), Pacvac have opted to rename the machines to something a little more catchy. Their corded machines now go by Superpro and Velo, and when it comes to the battery versions, you just add Go. So, we now have the Superpro (corded), NEW Velo (corded), Superpro Go (battery) and Velo Go (battery). Much easier, right? But it's not only names they're changing. After lots of testing, Pacvac have decided to redesign their machines to make them more user friendly and add some extra power. Find out more about the new products and features below...

Another Annual Head to Head VS OGL!

Joe Peatfield.Sep 22, 2023
The Footy! Kicking off at 6pm, 6 vs 6, on the astros at We Are Padel Sports Centre Pride Park, we embarked on the task of ending our losing streak against our software developers and bitter rivals OGL. While we were unsuccessful (ending in 8-11 to OGL), it was a much improved performance on the previous year at Kidderminster. A very tight match in which we were the better side towards the beginning but slowly started to unravel as the fitness of a few of our players was called in to question (bearing in mind OGL play on a weekly basis...). Click here for the full but VERY biased match report from OGL.   The Post Match Events... To make reparations to the relationships damaged during the football, we took to drinking (more our forté). Starting in the bar at the sports centre, we then moved over to the Annual Derby Beer Con where James got everyone in with his connections to Darley Abbey Cider. Inside was a great atmosphere with some incredible street food and lots of craft ales and, after trying a few beers and having a bite to eat, we again moved on. This time to Sam's recommendation of The Jorrocks Pub, allegedly the most haunted pub in Derby. However, the only thing haunting in there was the music. So, after a quick drink, we swiftly moved on. Sam is now banned from making executive decisions on a night out. Onto The Bless Pub we went, which was much more of a vibe, so much so we ended up staying there until around 1:00 am. At which point we remembered we had a VIP section booked in Popworld and thought we better move on. Inside Popworld James had a small battle trying to communicate with the staff, over the loud music, that we had the VIP area booked. But, once we had established that we were indeed Very Important People (sorry, Incompetent) we were having a great time with bottles of bubbly and vodka on tap. Apart from a couple of heads dropping off early, the majority ended the night at around 3:30 am. Another great evening with OGL, we're already looking forward to the next one on their turf next spring!
